History

Turnham-McCowan Cemetery lies in northeastern Milam County near Cameron, beside the old McCown Crossing on the Little River. Before a truss bridge was built there, J. W. McCown ran a ferry across the river from nearby Turnham Bluff, and the cemetery preserves the graves of the pioneering Turnham and McCown families who settled the crossing.
