History

Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Precinct 2 began on land donated by David Blalock Webb and his wife Frances, cotton farmers who came from Mississippi in the early 1870s. After their teenage son James Allen Webb died in 1874, the Webbs set aside the tract for a community cemetery; later additions came from Dr. Monroe Arthur Thomas and the Malone family.
