History

Sneed Chapel Cemetery is the burial ground of Sneed Chapel, a farming community about ten miles northeast of Cameron in northern Milam County that took its name from the Sneed family, owners of a pre-Civil War plantation there. The community's population was predominantly Black, and by the 1940s the settlement had vanished from county maps, leaving the cemetery on CR 270 (Precinct 2) as one of its few remaining traces.
