History

Nashville Cemetery, also called Old Nashville Cemetery, marks the site of Nashville-on-the-Brazos, founded by empresario Sterling C. Robertson in 1835 and named for his native Nashville, Tennessee. The town served as the seat of Milam County from 1837 until Cameron replaced it in 1846, after which it declined; in 1927 the Daughters of the American Revolution and the county bought seven acres to preserve the site, now a roadside park near Gause.
