History

Pleasant Retreat Cemetery adjoins Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church southeast of Thorndale in Milam County. The congregation dates to the late 1880s—members celebrated the community's 120th anniversary in 2008—and the cemetery has served the surrounding rural Methodist community since that period, with more than 450 recorded burials.
