History

Davilla Cemetery serves the community of Davilla in western Milam County, settled in the 1860s and named for Miguel Davila, who had received the original Mexican land grant in 1833. The town, laid out with a permanent ban on the sale of alcohol, grew to some 350 residents with churches, gristmills, and a school by the mid-1880s before gradually declining.
