History

The Old Lilac Black Cemetery is a small African American burial ground about 600 feet east of the Lilac Cemetery near the intersection of FM 487 and CR 3061 in Milam County. A number of those interred were members of the Rising Star Baptist Church, which began in the nearby Tracy community before relocating to Rockdale; long overgrown, the site has been the subject of local preservation efforts.
