History
The Tales 'N' Trails Museum in Nocona, a project of the North Texas Society of History and Culture, sits on 6.5 acres and interprets the Montague County area through five main themes: Native American culture, Western heritage, the oil and gas industry, leather, and agriculture. Its holdings include hundreds of Native American artifacts and European trade goods from the Joe Benton family collection, along with leather-tooled art and memorabilia from Nocona's boot- and glove-making industries. Nocona became a leather-goods center after Enid Justin founded the Nocona Boot Company there in 1925, when her brothers moved Justin Boot Company to Fort Worth.
