History

Lake Valley Cemetery serves the small rural Lake Valley community in southern Montague County, east of Sunset and just across the county line north of Alvord. Reached by a gravel road off F.M. 1749, the private burial ground holds graves of local farming families dating to the early 1900s, among them members of the Simpkins and Rice families—including several who died in a 1908 measles outbreak that struck the community.
