History

Whitmore Cemetery is a historically African American burial ground about four miles north of Daingerfield in Morris County. Its oldest legible marker dates to 1889, indicating burials began in the late nineteenth century. Local historians formally recorded the grounds in 1997 as part of the Morris County cemetery survey.
