History

Rose Hill Memorial Park, with its Chapel Garden Mausoleum, was founded in 1914 by an investment group headed by former diplomat Clifton R. Breckenridge, who developed the 40-acre Corpus Christi burial ground designed by noted landscape engineer C.W. Hughes. Among its interments are unidentified victims of the deadly 1919 Corpus Christi hurricane, commemorated by a large granite boulder over a mass grave, along with numerous civic leaders of the city.
