History
Local contractor J. D. Singleton built this Classical Revival home in 1906-1907 for Alice Victoria Ghormley Curtis, widow of Texas Ranger and rancher W. R. Curtis, who had moved to Amarillo after her husband's death in 1901. The two-story house at 1626 South Washington Street features Tuscan columns supporting a classical entablature. It was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1997 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
