The historic Randall County Courthouse in Canyon was built in 1908-1909 in the Classical Revival style to a design by architect Robert G. Kirsch, and was formally accepted on July 14, 1909. Built of brick with stone and terra-cotta trim and topped by a central dome, the landmark was threatened with demolition more than once but was saved by local citizens and the Texas Historical Commission, which funded restoration of its exterior including the clock tower. The county's everyday operations moved to a newer building.
