History
Edward McMillan, born in Ireland in 1814, was a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto who settled in what became Robertson County. After 1836 he moved to land west of present Franklin, and the initial county seat of Old Franklin was founded in 1838 on acreage surveyed from his property. He died in 1865 and is buried near New Baden at Camp Creek Cemetery, where the State of Texas placed a marker in 1936.
