History
The Miers Home Museum occupies a board-and-batten house built in 1888 by rancher Isaac Miers, only the fifth structure erected in the young town of Sonora. Miers was fatally shot in a dispute over water at the town well and died in the home, which his descendants later donated to the Sutton County Historical Society. Today it displays pioneer-era artifacts and archives copies of the local newspaper, the Devil's River News, dating back to 1890. The museum grounds also include the John & Mildred Cauthorn Memorial Building, a restored 1930s Santa Fe depot.
