History

St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 501 W. Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth is the city's fourth Catholic parish, tracing to this site in 1909, with its first mass in the present church held on July 20, 1924. Designed by the firm of Sanguinet, Staats and Hedrick in the Romanesque Revival style, it is regarded as one of the firm's finest ecclesiastical works and features stained glass by the F. Mayer Studio and a mural by the Conrad Schmitt Studio. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 1984.
