History
Log Cabin Village is a City of Fort Worth living-history museum that recreates rural Texas life of the 1800s. In the 1950s the Pioneer Texas Heritage Committee and the Tarrant County Historical Society, alarmed at the disappearance of the region's log structures, selected six mid-1800s log houses from North Texas, moved them to the present site, and restored them; the village opened to the public in 1966. Later additions include the 1850s Foster plantation house in 1974 and an 1870s schoolhouse, and the grounds feature a water-powered gristmill and a blacksmith shop staffed by costumed interpreters.
