History
The Leonard's Department Store Museum preserves the legacy of Leonard's, a Fort Worth institution that brothers Marvin and Obie Leonard opened as a tiny shop in 1918 and grew into a store spanning seven downtown blocks. Leonard's was famous for its privately owned M&O Subway, unveiled in 1963 to carry shoppers from remote parking lots to the store's basement, which ran until 2002. The museum's collection of more than 2,000 artifacts, curated by Marty Leonard, moved to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History beginning in 2024.
