History

The Stockyards Museum was opened in 1989 by the North Fort Worth Historical Society inside the historic Livestock Exchange Building at the Fort Worth Stockyards. It showcases the history of the stockyards and the city's north side through artifacts, photographs, and exhibits. The yards themselves grew after the railroad reached Fort Worth in 1876, with the Union Stockyards built in 1887 and renamed the Fort Worth Stockyards Company in 1893.
