History

Mansfield Cemetery was first used as a burial ground shortly after the Civil War; its earliest legible marker is that of Julia Alice (Boisseau) Man (1843-1868), whose family also gave the land. In 1874 the site was deeded to the Mansfield congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and it later grew to include family sections such as the Bratton family plot deeded in 1900. The Cumberland Presbyterian section holds Civil War veterans and victims of the 1918-19 influenza epidemic.
