History
The Terry County Heritage Museum in Brownfield is housed in the 1928 home of pioneer rancher Alfred Marion 'Dick' Brownfield, who arrived in the area by covered wagon in 1902 and left the house to the city upon his death in 1967. The museum was established in 1970 and fills the rooms with displays covering the history of Brownfield and Terry County, from Native American culture to ranching, farming, and the cotton industry. Its grounds also include the old Brownfield jail and the town's first train depot, which hold additional artifacts such as a restored chuck wagon and carriage.
