History

The Terry County Courthouse in Brownfield is a three-story buff-brick building completed in 1925, one of the few classical designs in the city. Its slightly projecting central block carries three bays of tall arched windows framed by paired Ionic columns. A 1951 addition on the east side, designed by Carl H. Stautz, roughly doubled the building's size, and a $3.9 million restoration led by architect Albert Moffitt of Grimes and Associates followed in 2012.
