History

The community northwest of Mount Pleasant known formally as Forest Grove was long called Damascus by local residents, and Damascus appears to have been the settlement's earliest name. Damascus Cemetery sits beside Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in northwestern Titus County and preserves the graves of hundreds of area residents. It is recognized among the historic cemeteries of Titus County.
