The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, on the University of Texas at Austin campus, was dedicated May 22, 1971, with President Richard Nixon and former President Johnson in attendance, and it was the first presidential library built on a university campus. UT donated the land and funded much of the $18 million cost of the 10-story travertine-clad building designed by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Its holdings include more than 45 million pages of documents, and the top floor features a 7/8-scale replica of Johnson's Oval Office.
