History
Williamson Creek Cemetery in south Austin is one of the city's oldest burial grounds associated with enslaved people, founded in 1863. It is the resting place of people enslaved by the Sneed family, who built a prominent Austin residence. Long neglected, the cemetery has been cared for since 2020 by a volunteer association working to document and preserve it.
