History
The Billy Kyle Ranch House near Nursery in Victoria County was built in 1872 by William Henry 'Uncle Billy' Kyle, a Virginia-born trail driver, cattleman and Confederate veteran of Terry's Texas Rangers. Kyle began his ranching career as foreman of the Foster Ranch in Calhoun County before establishing his own place. The Texas Colonial-style ranch home is recognized with a state historical marker.
