History
The Nursery Cemetery in Victoria County serves the community of Nursery, named for the fruit-tree nursery that horticulturist Gilbert Onderdonk established there in 1883 along the San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railway. Onderdonk, who named the town and served as its postmaster, developed numerous peach and plum varieties and became a consultant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
