History
The Stage Coach Inn at Main and Chestnut Streets in Chappell Hill was built in 1850 by Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Haller, founders of the town, as a 14-room Greek Revival inn on the road between Houston and Austin. Early stagecoach lines stopped there overnight. After decades of decline, Houston architect Harvin C. Moore and his wife Elizabeth bought and restored the inn in 1976, and it was subsequently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
