History
The Texas and New Orleans Railroad Bridge crosses the Colorado River at Wharton and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 as part of the 'Historic and Architectural Resources of Wharton.' The T&NO, a Southern Pacific subsidiary line, was central to Wharton's late-19th- and early-20th-century commercial growth.
