History

St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery adjoins St. Andrew Catholic Church at Hillje, a western Wharton County community at the junction of U.S. 59 and FM 441 about eighteen miles west of Wharton. The parish and its burial ground served the Czech and German Catholic families who settled the area, many of whom came by way of Weimar. The active parish is today part of the Diocese of Victoria, and the cemetery holds more than 700 graves.
