Designed in the Classical Revival style and constructed in red brick with decorative sheet metal elements and details. It is a symmetrical three-story building on a raised basement. The east and west facades feature five large Palladian windows set behind four slender fluted Ionic columns supporting a simplified entablature and small central pediment. This is framed by two pavilions featuring banded brick pilasters.

The Wheeler County Courthouse was built in 1925 to a Classical Revival design by Texas architect E. H. Eads, funded by a bond election held that year. The concrete-framed, brick-veneered building has cast stone window sills and capitals and is fronted by eight dramatic Ionic columns. The county completed a thorough restoration in 2004 through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program.
