History

The Route Building at 503 Eighth Street in Wichita Falls was built in 1909 by the partnership of Kemp and Kell to house the offices of their railroad enterprises, collectively known as the "Wichita Falls Route," and it also served as a rail depot. The building reflects the central role of the railroad in the early growth of the city and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
