The Kell House Museum in Wichita Falls preserves the two-story home built 1908-1910 for Frank Kell, who made his fortune in railroads, flour milling, and oil and, with brother-in-law Joseph Kemp, was among the city's leading early-20th-century promoters. The Kell family occupied the house from 1909 until 1980, and it retains seven fireplaces, hand-stenciled decoration, and original furnishings including a baby grand player piano. The Wichita County Heritage Society purchased the property and opened it as a museum in 1981.
