History
This Georgetown residence is associated with Dr. Robert Stewart Hyer, the physicist and educator who served as regent and president of Southwestern University around the turn of the twentieth century. Hyer, remembered for early experiments with X-rays and wireless telegraphy, later moved to Dallas and helped found Southern Methodist University in 1911. The frame dwelling was built in the early 1900s, the era when Georgetown's Belford Lumber Company was raising many of the town's finest homes, and it was added to the National Register in 1986.
