History
This was the home of William K. Makemson, a Williamson County sheriff, district attorney and lawyer who edited the Georgetown Watchman and wrote an early county history, First Settlement and Organization of Williamson County (1904). His wife Kate worked as a newspaper correspondent, and the Georgetown Woman's Club was founded in the house. Makemson was the Republican nominee for Texas lieutenant governor in 1892; the residence was placed on the National Register in 1986.
