History

The house is linked to Melville Beveridge Lockett, an Ohio native who became one of Georgetown's leading dry-goods merchants after opening his store on the courthouse square in 1889. He and his wife Annie were among the prominent local families whose residences were documented when Georgetown's historic buildings were placed on the National Register in the 1980s.
