History
This 1936 state marker at the Williamson County courthouse honors Robert Jones Rivers (c.1806-1854), a Virginia-born pioneer lawyer and orator remembered for his eloquence in defense of the helpless. A criminal defense attorney who rode the circuit on horseback, he died in Georgetown in December 1854 while trying a case.
