History
Easley-Sloan Cemetery near Taylor takes its name from pioneer settler Samuel Easley, who came from South Carolina and settled in Williamson County in 1852 after marrying Elizabeth Sloan. Easley became a large landowner, built one of the county's early cotton gins at the community that grew into Taylor, and served a term in the Texas Legislature in the 1870s. The family burial ground was granted Historic Texas Cemetery status in 2007.
