History

Sawyer Cemetery, a small family burial ground on the North Fork of the San Gabriel River, no longer exists on its original site. When Lake Georgetown was formed in the 1970s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers moved its graves, members of the Sawyer family and two unknown infants, to the Florence City Cemetery on October 21, 1974. It is recorded today only for historical purposes.
