History
Perryville Cemetery lies in the community of Perryville in northeastern Wood County, between the local Baptist and Methodist churches near the intersection of FM 2088 and FM 852, about eight miles southeast of Winnsboro. The community, reportedly named for a landowner and sawmill operator and said to have absorbed an earlier sawmill settlement called Wallingville, grew up near Wood County's first public road, the 1853 Jefferson Road used by farmers hauling cotton. The cemetery holds more than 700 recorded burials; the neighboring Perryville Baptist Church was organized in 1884 as the County Line Missionary Baptist Church.
