History
Rev. Daniel Parker (1781-1844) was a pioneer Baptist minister who organized the Pilgrim Predestinarian Regular Baptist Church in Illinois in 1833 and led its members to Texas that November. His congregation is regarded as the oldest continuously active Protestant church in Texas, and Parker held its first Texas meeting at his Anderson County home in 1835. He died in 1844 and is buried in the Pilgrim Church cemetery near Elkhart.
