History
Dickerson Parker (1812-1844) was a son of pioneer minister Elder Daniel Parker and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. An early settler of the Houston County area, he is buried in the Pilgrim Church cemetery near Elkhart. His name appears as "Dickinson" on the 1936 state marker, though "Dickerson" is the correct spelling.
