History

Hillcrest Cemetery is part of the merged Lufkin burial complex in Angelina County that also takes in the Glendale, Knight, and IOOF (Odd Fellows) sections, collectively remembered as the Lufkin City Cemeteries. The formerly distinct grounds have grown together over the decades, separated now only by driveways, and are reached from East Lufkin Avenue. The complex contains many of Lufkin's older burials.
