History

The Bell County Courthouse in Belton was built in 1884 as the county's third courthouse, designed in the Renaissance Revival style by the Austin firm of J. N. Preston & Son. The three-story building occupies a full block, with entrance pavilions and porticos of cut-stone columns on each side. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and partially restored in 1999.
