History

The Barton House in Salado is a quarry-faced limestone residence built into a hillside in 1866 for Dr. Welborn Barton and his wife, Louisa Adeline Cox. Unusual for its period in its asymmetrical design, it remained a private home for more than a century before opening as a restaurant in 1997. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as part of a Salado-area group nomination.
