History

This Greek Revival house in Salado was built in 1857 and originally served as a boarding house. It was the home of Orville Thomas Tyler (1810-1886), a Massachusetts-born pioneer who became a county judge, state legislator, and president of the board of trustees of Salado College. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the state marker was placed in 1936.
