History
The Tyler House on Main Street in Salado was built in 1857 by Orville Thomas Tyler, a pioneer Texan who served as county judge, state legislator, and president of the board of trustees of Salado College. The house reflects the Greek Revival style in its overall form while departing from it in the horizontal emphasis of its portico. Its originally detached kitchen was joined to the main house around 1935. The Tyler House is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
