History
This steel through-truss railroad bridge carries the former Missouri, Kansas & Texas ("Katy") Railroad across the Leon River east of downtown Belton. Supported on limestone piers, it features a riveted steel Parker truss with a polygonal top chord divided into five segments by webbed vertical hangers and light diagonal struts. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as an example of early railroad engineering in Bell County.
