History

Housed in a building constructed around 1942, this West Side venue opened as El Sombrero in 1948 and was renamed Lerma's Nite Club after Pablo H. Lerma took over the lease in 1951 and began booking conjunto music exclusively. Over nearly sixty years it became one of the most important stages in the development of conjunto, hosting artists such as Valerio Longoria, Flaco Jimenez and Lydia Mendoza, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 21, 2011.
