History

The San Antonio Loan and Trust Building at 239 East Commerce Street was built in 1903 by businessman and philanthropist George W. Brackenridge, who had founded the loan and trust company in 1892 and lived in the building with his sister Eleanor. Designed in a Victorian style with strong Classical detailing and a formal dressed-stone facade, it stands beside Brackenridge's First National Bank Building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 12, 1976.
